The specific population make-up of STRIVE clients varies by affiliate, based on the needs of their local community. The demographic information below is a national aggregate of all clients for the full year 2005.

Nationwide about one-third of STRIVE staff members are also graduates of our programs! In the states where we work, average recidivism among all ex-offenders is about 50% within one year. Participants in our YOI program, targeting high-risk young offenders, had a recidivism rate of just 15%! This represents an enormous social and fiscal benefit to the participants and their communities. On average, 43% of participants did not have a H.S. diploma or equivalent — and for some locations as many as 87% — but after completing our program many participants have gone on to earn certificates or further their education.

For the 2005/2006 year: STRIVE London had the most graduates: 626! STRIVE San Diego had 480 graduates -- the most of any US Affiliate! STRIVE Chicago, active since 1990, is the longest-running Affiliate program outside of NY.
