Outreach/Intake

STRIVE is committed to working with the communities and populations that can benefit most from our job training approach. Outreach teams visit street fairs, prisons, youth service agencies, churches and other organizations to distribute information about our work. Our wide network of contacts with other community-based organizations often refers people to us, and we advertise in both print and broadcast, in local and community media outlets. Many STRIVE graduates refer friends and neighborhood acquaintances to us — one of the most productive ways that grassroots recruitment attracts people to our program.

When applicants arrive at STRIVE, trained intake specialists review their background and needs, and they complete a written application. This is followed by an extensive personal interview where their eligibility to participate is determined, as well as their ability to fully benefit from the training, and to retain a job once it is secured. The STRIVE program isn't appropriate for every applicant at every point in their life. Some applicants are referred to other area resources and are encouraged to come back at a later date.
